A woman tells of her past marriage with her x-husband, and how even though the two were divorced, he loved her all the same. He called on 9/11 before he died. I think Story Corps has an ambitious endeavor of showing how everymoment counts in life. You never know when you'll be able to speak with someone for the last time. Their effort to interview every person affected by 9/11 tells a tale of the people who died on that fateful day and the people who are still living. The stories themselves are there to remember the victims. Each and every story has a way of gaining empathy and emotion from the audience, which is what I think makes these stories so great.

Icing on the Cake is a very inspirational story in itself. Personally it is hard for people who have had sheltered lives to think about what life would be like working for little pay, going without decent food for 6 months, and other hardships. This story brings to light how the family in the story made ends meat and worked up from a hard situation. Taking time to work and go through school, while raising kids, is a very tedious task, which the parents were able to pull off. This gave inspiration for their kids to strive hard as well.
